MINDY GILES – OSHUN
Mindy Giles is a folk and limbo dancer, stilt walker, singer and pannist. Over the past 17 years, she has been the tutor & choreographer of the Diego Martin Footprints Folk Performers and many other groups for the Prime Minister’s Best Village Trophy Competition. She has also choreographed for the Universoul Circus in the USA and the UWI, St. Augustine Dance Theatre. Mindy possesses a Certificate in Dance and Dance Education at UWI as well as a BA in Dance with 1st Class Honours. Currently, she lectures the ‘Caribbean Folk Dance’ courses at UWI and also teaches dance at the Morvant/Laventille Secondary School.
Mindy has been a confident and versatile ambassador for the culture of Trinidad and Tobago over the 28 years of her dance career. Her major travels include trips to India, Brazil, Canada, England, Taiwan and Venezuela where she represented T&T, not only as a folk and limbo dancer but a stilt walker, pannist and singer as well. Mindy also enjoys drama, singing and playing African drums. Interestingly, she has completed a Degree in Accounts and a Masters in Business Administration and has been an accountant for 10 years.
